Taking in the colorful sights and sounds of the 11th annual Winter Wonderland was just one of several items on the sightseeing agenda for Paul and Helen Smith while in Topeka this weekend.
After visiting the Charles Curtis House and Historic Ward-Meade Park and before heading to the Topeka RoadRunners hockey game, the couple from Plano, Texas, along with passengers from Albuquerque, NM, were first in line for Saturday night's driving tour of holiday light displays at Lake Shawnee.
The annual fundraising event for TARC began Friday and runs through Dec. 31.

Developmentally disabled people living longer
TARC, other agencies face service challenges
By Barbara Hollingsworth The Capital-Journal Published Monday, March 24, 2008

"Just like the baby boom with everyone else, we are seeing more of our folks ready to retire," said Mary Ann Keating, executive director.
